Quick Chicken Bone Broth Recipe
This quick chicken bone broth is perfect for a fast, flavorful base for soups, sauces, or sipping on its own. Ready in just over an hour!
Ingredients
- 1.5–2 kg chicken bones (carcasses, wings, or thighs)
- 3 liters water
- 1 onion, roughly chopped
- 2 carrots, roughly chopped
- 2 celery stalks, roughly chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, smashed
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
- 1/2 tsp black peppercorns
- Optional: fresh herbs like parsley or thyme
Instructions
- Place chicken bones in a large pot and cover with 3 liters of water.
- Add apple cider vinegar and let sit for 10 minutes to help extract nutrients.
- Add onion, carrots, celery, garlic, salt, and peppercorns to the pot.
- Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce to a gentle simmer.
- Skim any foam or impurities that rise to the surface during the first 10 minutes.
- Simmer uncovered for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
- If using herbs, add them in the last 10 minutes of cooking.
- Strain the broth through a fine mesh sieve into a large bowl or containers.
- Let cool slightly before storing in the fridge for up to 5 days or freezer for up to 3 months.
